Snow and his Toys
Hi, me again. Today I want to talk about my favourite things, toys! Well that is my second favourite thing, my first is FOOD, but the good news is that I can mix toys and food together!
So why should I have toys? Well let me tell you, us dogs, when we get bored, we can dig, bark, chew, destroy and escape, so hey there, give us something to do!
All of my friends have different toys they like, so you have to find out what we like best. There are many toys out there, some better quality than others, so your folks need to check them out really well. I am really tough on toys, so I need ones that can stand up,to a lot of chewing. One of my friends recently had to have surgery as he chewed up a lot of things, and then the silly boy swallowed them, ouch. He didn’t feel so good after that and started to vomit, so my mum had to open him up and take all the stuff out.
Some of us, are far more gentle with our toys. My sister Kasane has a fluffy rabbit, she walks around and apparently squeaks it and all the family think she is soooo cute. Well I can’t hear it squeak but I sure want to get hold of it and rip those sweet little rabbit ears right off, and then pull all that stuffing out and toss it all round the room. To quell my somewhat destructive urges, my mum often gives me things that I can rip,to pieces, like empty cardboard boxes and milk containers. Then no one gets too uptight about it getting thrown out the next day as it didn’t cost anything.
My other favourite toys are those that you can fill up with food, boy do I work hard to get that out. Mum also fills them with peanut butter or Vegemite, she sometimes freezes them so I have to lick and lick till they melt. And if it’s a really hot day, sometimes I just like to chew on plain ice!
Toys don’t have to be expensive, just safe, so make sure your folks are really comfortable with how you look after your toys before leaving you alone with them. If you have any questions, just give the nurses a call at work, they will be happy to help you out.
